It is important to refine the points that will support slide headlines – too many points can weaken the argument. 

Techniques to create lean and mean copy: 

  • Use the rule of thirds, which ensures that there is enough space for a visual to make a greater impact and boost memorability 
  • Use full sentences and format the slide in a visually appealing way
  • Use the notes section of the slide to work out the copy and consider using short paragraphs, especially if the presentation will be emailed and not presented in person
